The Ceiriog Valley Sheepdog Society has once again enjoyed another successful show. The Local and Novice Trials classes on the Friday started the weekend off with a good competition and an impressive entry of over 50 dogs. From 7.30am on Saturday nearly 90 dogs competed in the Open Sheepdog Trials Class. This year the Society welcomed competitors from all over the world to the Trials including Wales, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, France, Sweden, Germany, The Czech Republic, Italy and the USA. The winner of the Open Class wining the Frank Richardson Memorial Cup was Glyn Jones, Cwm y Geifr, Llanarmon D.C, and his son Gethin Jones won both the Local and Novice classes on the Friday. This report was written by Ms Bethan Roberts, Secretary to the Ceiriog Valley Sheepdog Society.
With Tibetan Terriers and Alaskan Malmute’s exhibited in the Companion Dog Show and a new exciting Puissance Showjumping Competition in the Equine Section there was plenty to see. Llangollen Young Farmers Club did an excellent job of parking cars on the day, and they also ran competitions at the show which included a nail knocking race, guessing the weight of two fat lambs and how many balloons can you fit in a tractor!
With local trade stands exhibiting local crafts and produce and the raffle ladies selling tickets like hot cakes, and plenty of sunshine the atmosphere on the day was great.
An excellent show was had by all and the committee would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work, not only on show day, but all year round, upon which we rely to run the show.
This year we have once again received some tremendous financial support, without the generosity of those who donate to the Society, and those that sponsor the day, putting on a great show would not be possible. Thank you all and we hope to have the same success next year!
